No Surf Zone

This weekend Belmar is poised and ready for the 2008 Boost Mobile Pro surf contest. The banners are up, the surfers have rolled into town and the sponsors are busily readying hats, T's and other gear for sale. There's only one thing missing - waves.

Typical of a New Jersey surfing contest, the weather is not cooperating.

After last week's bountiful display of shoulder-plus groundswell that pleased surfers and made the Surfer's Healing event a blast to watch, we are left with sloppy mush and hard onshore winds.

The forecast for the rest of the weekend is a bit more favorable with less wind and warmer temperatures which means at least we we can enjoy the beach while getting skunked. Keep your fingers crossed that the Belmar Pro gets off the ground this afternoon and Sunday's Manasquan Classic Longboard Event has better luck.

THAT'S more like it!
